The A-listers who dare to bare...and look BETTER for it: From Jennifer Lawrence to Beyoncé, we reveal the stars who shine without a scrap of make-up on
- Stars such as Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner champion made-up look
- Some choose social media to showcase their glowing skin and bare faces
- Some make-up exaggerates features of stars; makes them look older
In a time of face-changing contouring, exaggerated lip liner and fake eyelashes of an unlikely length, it's not surprising that many celebrities will choose to go bare-faced in their spare time.
And while some use make-up to create an illusion of beauty, there are a few lucky celebrities that look just as alluring without the help of any cosmetics.

Chris Martin's rumoured squeeze Jennifer Lawrence looks years older with heavy make-up on (right), compared to when she opts for the fresh-faced (left)
JENNIFER LAWRENCE
Jennifer Lawrence shot to fame in outdoorsy films such as Winter's Bone and The Hunger Games franchise, where the actress' paired-down look was championed.
But an abundance of red carpet appearances has called for the actress to amp up her beauty looks, which has often led to harsh eye make-up and uncomplimentary lipstick shades.
The 24-year-old is better suited to sticking with minimal make-up to showcase her youthful complexion and dainty features.
Kelly Brook looks almost clown-like with exaggerated makeup (right), and looks much more youthful with a bare-faced complexion (left)
KELLY BROOK
Model and actress Kelly Brook may be better known for her voluptuous figure, but time and time again will put on a glamorous face to walk the red carpet.
There's no doubt that the 35-year-old looks severe and even comical toting an orange-red lip and harsh liquid liner.
Brook takes years off her age by opting for little-to-no make-up and wearing her hair in its natural wavy state.
Beyoncé's severe make-up only serves to add years onto her age (right), which is the opposite to her radiant make-up free look (left)
BEYONCÉ
In addition to the over-processed dip-dyed hair, Beyoncé's heavily made-up look of tight liner and cherry-red lipstick only serves to add years on.
The 33-year-old pop star immediately looks more youthful when she strips her look down and goes bare-faced.
British actress Keira Knightley, 30, looks much older with thick clumpy eye make-up (right), as opposed to her natural more radiant look (left)
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY
At only 30, actress Keira Knightley ages her face with thick clumpy mascara, a fussy up-do and over-powdery skin.
The Imitation Game actress looks much more youthful letting her her fresh-faced beauty shine through, and also letting her slightly-pinched rosy cheeks and her natural strong brow do the talking.
Two sides to every story: Actress Allison Williams recently posted this image on Instagram which showed her looking better on the side with half her makeup taken off
ALLISON WILLIAMS
With half of her face heavily made up, and the other half without any make-up at all, Girls actress Allison Williams proved earlier on this week that when it comes to beauty, less is more.
In an image posted on Instagram, the 27-year-old sported dramatic fake lashes, orange contouring, severe bronzer and Nineties-style brown lip-liner on one side of her face, while the other side showcased her near-perfect complexion, glowing skin and natural eyebrows.
Reality star Kim Kardashian may be used to being heavily made-up to walk the red carpet (right), but looks more youthful without it (left)
KIM KARDASHIAN
Kim Kardashian might be the star who brought the art of contouring into mainstream beauty, but caught off-guard, every so often the 34-year-old will let her natural good genes come through.
Differing dramatically from her usual red carpet look of smokey eyes, heavy bronzer and sticky lip gloss, the reality star looks more youthful without the shed-loads of cosmetics, allowing her naturally tanned skin and arched brows to come through.
Lady Gaga is known for her theatrical red carpet and stage makeup (right), but every so often takes to Instagram with a make-up free complexion (left)
LADY GAGA
Lady Gaga is known for burying her looks in striking make-up experiments, and this year's Met Gala was no exception, as the Born This Way singer turned up sporting an exaggerated penned in jet-black eyebrow, as well as saccharine blusher.
But every so often the 29-year-old performer will take to Instagram to remind us of her fresh-faced beauty.
Recently Gaga stripped back her look, which allowed her to showcase her healthy golden skin, naturally dark tamed eyebrows and green eyes.
Suki Waterhouse immediately swamps her features when she opts for heavy liner (right), compared to when she chooses to go without (left)
SUKI WATERHOUSE
With her near-perfect English-rose complexion and cute-as-a-button features, an abundance of makeup only serves to hinder Suki Waterhouse's natural beauty.
The thick liner swamps the 23-year-old's eyes, making them smaller than they actually are, and the sickly pale pink lipstick has the same effect, shrinking the Burberry model's lips and washing her out.
Ellie Goulding is better suited to letting her natural skin tone and beauty do the talking (left), rather than swamping it in greasy over-bronzed make-up (right)
ELLIE GOULDING
As the current cover star for Women's Health and as a performer that boasts an adventurous work-out regime, Ellie Goulding's Instagram is more fresh-faced beauty, rather than trowels of makeup.
But every so often the 28-year-old Burn singer will step out in an unflattering heavily made-up look that confirms that the star is better off without the slap.
The greasy foundation and dark eyes seen here only serve to age the singer.
Actress Emma Stone creates the unflattering illusion of smaller eyes when she opts for heavy liner (right), as opposed to when she keeps her face make-up free (left)
EMMA STONE
Flame-haired actress Emma Stone is a prime example of someone who looks more youthful without tons of make-up on.
Even with someone with as eyes as big as the 26-year-old, heavy eye-liner creates the unflattering illusion of squinty eyes, and the pale foundation gives the star a pallid complexion.
The Amazing Spiderman actress immediately looks better without all the intense make-up.
Reality star and model Millie Mackintosh looks a lot more severe with dark eye make-up and a blunt bright lip (right), compared to her fresh-faced appearance (left)
Supermodel Cara Delevingne, 22, automatically makes her features look harsher with dark eye make-up (right), compared to her make-up free look (left)
Reality star Lydia Bright, 25, looks almost cartoon-like with the exaggerated brows, lips and eye make-up (right), compared to her fresh-faced look which allows her natural beauty to stand out (left)
Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway, 32, sports a much brighter complexion (left) when she goes without the deep ageing lipstick and panda eyes (right)
Angelina Jolie, 39, looks much more radiant when she goes make-up free (left) compared to when she sports deep red jewel tones on her lips (right)
