Rihanna rocks a low-key look in distressed jeans and a baggy black hoodie as she struggles to tame her wild curls

Rihanna rocks a low-key look in distressed jeans and a baggy black hoodie as she struggles to tame her wild curls

She's known for her slick sartorial style and on-point, ever-changing tresses.
But Rihanna looked to be struggling to tame her wild mane on Friday, as she stepped out for an evening in New York.
The 27-year-old singer was seen out on an evening jaunt in the Big Apple, but while she honed her ensemble's theme to a distressed low-key look, RiRi seemed to be struggling to keep her hair in check.

Casually stepping out into the balmy New York evening, the Bajan babe opted for a dressed down vibe which oozed a style more common to the coffee shops and bars of 90s Seattle.
Wearing a baggy black hoodie - that featured a partially un-stitched hem - and a pair of ripped and distressed blue denim jeans, Rihanna went for low-key comfort over ostentatious style.

Leaving her large collection of heels and boots at home, she rounded off her relaxed look with a pair of blue and white sneakers that featured a black dot pattern - while she kept an edge of glamour with a small, quilted, black leather handbag.
She wore her usually arrow-straight hair free, letting the heavily tousled ringlets flow down to her shoulders.
Stylishly distressed: The 27-year-old singer managed to hone her ensemble's theme to a perfect 90s grunge look, but RiRi seemed to be struggling to keep her long, curly hair in check

Nail the sports-luxe trend with a striped sweatshirt like Rhi Rhi

Whether she's flaunting her curves on the red carpet or keeping it casual Rihanna always look on point.
And we have to say, sometimes we prefer it when she keeps it understated as she has done here with a simple pair of frayed Citizens of Humanity 'arley' jeans, Dior fusion trainers and this seriously chic Givenchy sweatshirt.
It hails from Givenchy's Fall '14 collection and is actually a mens jumper (classic Rhi-Rhi - always switching it up). We love the little touches like the striped hem and cut out sides.
Teamed with simple skinnies and trainers a statement sweatshirt like Rihanna's makes for a seriously cool sports-luxe look.
Though this exact pick is now sold out (wah) click (right) to snap up a similar Givenchy number now. Or head to our edit below for our top picks from the likes of DKNY, ASOS, Style Stalker and Christopher Kane.
Troublesome tresses: Her locks, which are usually perfectly held in place, seemed to be playing, as Rihanna's striking features were almost completely swallowed by her hair at one point

The singer's nails however we're immaculate, with the Diamonds singer sporting an elegant and polished set of pale-pink cuticles.
Rihanna has currently been enjoying some time in the famous city, after débuting the controversial video for her latest song ,B**** Better Have My Money.

She released the controversial and explicit video to BBHMM online last week.
And her latest track's violent feature-film styled video has already garnered over 8 million views, causing a storm over its themes and imagery.
Rihanna co-directed the racy video with the French collective MegaForce and it also co-stars Eric Roberts, Hannibal actor Mads Mikkelsen as well as Supermodel Rachel Roberts.
During the seven minute long movie Canadian beauty Rachel is kidnapped, stripped naked and then tortured by the Umbrella singer.
And though critics have lambasted the pop star for the video, she shows no sign of slowing down her prolific singing career, as she is currently in the process of recording her eighth studio album, rumoured to be titled 'R8'.
